House rules

Policies guests ask about most: dress code, alcohol and BYOB, payments, gratuity, gift cards, and pet policies.

Dress code, alcohol, payment, gratuity, gift cards, dogs. The policies guests ask about most often, in one place.

Fields

Dress code

  • Free text. Example: "Smart casual recommended. We encourage guests to dress neatly."

  • Keep it polite, welcoming, and clear.

Age restrictions

  • Free text. Example: "Children under 12 are not recommended for evening dining." Leave blank if no restrictions.

Alcohol

  • Alcohol served (Yes/No)

  • BYOB (Yes/No)

  • Corkage fee — Example: "$75 per 750ml bottle"

Payment methods

Multi-select:

  • Debit cards, Credit cards, Cash, NFC mobile payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cryptocurrency

Credit card types

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover

Fees

  • Cakeage fee — Example: "$5/person, or $25 flat"

  • Automatic large-group gratuity — Example: "18% for parties of 6+"

Gift cards

  • Gift cards available (Yes/No)

  • Gift card details (free text)

  • Link to additional information — Foodie texts this URL when guests ask

Dogs

  • Pet dogs allowed inside

  • Pet dogs allowed outside (useful for patios)

Best practices

  • Match what's on your website and menus. If your website says "smart casual" and Foodie says "business casual," guests get confused.

  • Be specific about money. "$75 per bottle" beats "varies."

  • Review quarterly. Policies drift; this is the section that gets stale fastest.
